Penelope (Penny) Phillips focuses exclusively on counseling and representing employers in all areas of employment law, including FMLA, wage and hour, employment discrimination claims (including gender, age, religion, disability, national origin, and race), defamation, whistleblower, breach of contract and wrongful discharge. She also investigates complaints of employee misconduct (including harassment and offensive behavior). Penny has worked with and practiced before the state and federal courts, various state and federal agencies, including the Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and state and local fair employment practices agencies.
Grant’s traditional labor practice involves preparing for and serving as chief-spokesperson for collective bargaining, advising employers on their rights and obligations under collective bargaining agreements and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and representing employers in grievance arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board.
On the employment side, Grant advises and represents employers in matters involving all areas of employment law, including: discrimination, ADA accommodations, FMLA leave, paid leave, FLSA and state wage and hour compliance, and the new phenomenon of local employment law ordinances.
Bob Schmitz joined Christensen Group in 2014. Previously, Bob was a partner at Schreifels and Associates, a Minnesota based employee benefits consulting firm. At Christensen Group, Bob is the Leader of the Employee Benefits department. Bob has a specific focus in the following areas: Regulatory Compliance (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA), Funding Analysis, Long-term Strategic Planning, and Claims Analytics. Bob graduated from St. Cloud University with a B.S. in Accounting.
