Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Revenue Growth

    Contribute to new business production by expanding existing client relationships (e.g. renewal retention, new lines of coverage, cross-sell, referral business)

Account Management

  • Demonstrate product knowledge on multiple carrier plans, make needs-based plan recommendations and assist in the enrollment process
  • Conduct client meetings both in-person and virtually
  • Conduct Sales Presentations both in-person and virtually
  • Lead outreach and marketing efforts
  • Demonstrate professionalism daily – appearance, approach, etc.
  • Support agency directives in effectively managing agency/carrier/client relationships
  • Maintain compliance and licensing requirements
  • Answer questions, solve problems, explain coverage, and respond to service needs
  • Handles the rate negotiations with carrier partners
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and innovation based on knowledge of the market, carriers and products, including understanding of important technical/financial issues
  • Maintains a full understanding of the insurance markets, funding alternatives, networks and benefit plan options
  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with clients and carriers
  • Establishes effective carrier/vendor relationships to serve clients in benefits procurement and administration
  • Remains fully knowledgeable on compliance issues governed by legislation and regulations impacting employer sponsored health and welfare plans such as ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, Tax Code SEC 125, PPACA and state sponsored health insurance exchanges
  • Management of benefit account revenue
  • Direct work to team and other Christensen Group consulting services (e.g. Business Insurance, Risk Management, Alternative Risk, Third Party Services) as needed in order to oversee/coordinate service to the client
  • Work with other related agency staff, groups, or outside entities to address client’s insurance issues
  • Review contracts and address coverage issues with client and/or team

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate general knowledge of agency carriers, carrier/broker marketplace and underwriting in order to coordinate with insurance companies to address client issues and solve client problems
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Support agency directives in effectively managing agency/carrier relationships
  • Keep management informed of known actions, written or verbal, that may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect the Company operations
  • Develops and maintains interdivision/intercompany relationships consistent with our company culture
  • Fosters a culture of learning and development and engages in mentorship activities with other employees
  • Represents and demonstrates professionalism of Christensen Group brand
  • Provide other support whether apparent, required or needed
  • Strong negotiation skills

Job requirements

· 4-year degree preferred or equivalent experience

· Must have a current Minnesota Life and Health insurance license

· 6-10 years industry experience preferred

· Microsoft Office experience (strong math and Excel background)

· Ability to multi-task

· Detail-oriented

· Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities

· Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

· Self-starter and problem solver
