As our Human Resources Specialist, you’ll play a key role in keeping our HR operations running smoothly and our employees feeling supported. You’ll collaborate with the HR Director and cross-functional teams to manage a variety of HR functions—from benefits and compliance to employee engagement and systems support. This is a dynamic, hands-on role ideal for someone who loves being in the details but is also energized by bigger-picture employee experience initiatives.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000

Salary is dependent on collective experience, knowledge, and skillsets for the posted role.

Benefits & Compliance

  • Partner with the HR Director to continuously improve our employee benefits programs.
  • Coordinate Open Enrollment and handle communications for new hires, life events, and ongoing benefit education.
  • Deliver engaging employee communications through orientations, Benefits Fairs, company emails, and intranet updates.
  • Manage the transition of our benefits platform from BSwift to the Paylocity Benefits module.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Accounting to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing.
  • Support administration of 401(k), ESOP, and leave programs (PTO, STD/LTD).
  • Ensure wage notices, policies, and practices are compliant with all federal, state, and local laws.

Training & Development:

  • Partner with HR team with our internship program, offering students meaningful real-world experience.
  • Support learning and mentorship initiatives that help our employees grow and thrive.

HRIS & Systems:

  • Work with the HR team to improve system workflows and user experience.

Employee Engagement:

  • Assist in executing engagement surveys (e.g., Pulse, Best Places to Work), and support action planning based on results.
  • Champion recognition efforts and promote internal communications that celebrate our people.
  • Help plan and coordinate employee events and wellness initiatives by overseeing company Employee Resource Committees.  

Compliance & Admin Support:

  • Maintain essential HR documentation, including FLSA records, I-9s, employment agreements, and handbook acknowledgments.
  • Partner with talent acquisition on recruiting sourcing strategies, scheduling interviews, and updating documents.
  • Manage offboarding processes to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Handle employment verifications and support compensation data submissions.
  • Contribute to special projects led by the HR Director or COO.

Job requirements

  • 2+ years of HR and benefit administration experience (insurance industry a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred—or equivalent experience.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset and a sense of urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Excel; HRIS experience preferred.
  • HR certification (PHR) is a plus, but not required.
